Polisena Profiled as 'Power Player'

Providence-based website GoLocalProv.com this week profiled Mayor Joseph Polisena for its "Power Player" feature, asking Polisena about his support for Gov. Lincoln Chafee's municipal relief bills and his plans for the 2012 election, among other topics.

Monday's feature story follows the website's a couple of weeks ago.

In this week's question-and-answer interview, McGowan notes Polisena's support of the Chafee bills — which included — despite Johnston's relatively strong financial state.

Polisena explains, as he has before, that he's concerned about all Rhode Island communities' fiscal health — and that he doesn't want to see any other towns go through the .

As for this year's election, McGowan points to an estimated $100,000 in Polisena's campaign fund in asking whether Polisena is thinking about a run for higher office.

The mayor replies that in 2010, the local fire union "helped their hand-picked person" [former Fire Chief Victor Cipriano] amass some $90,000 in campaign funds for the Democratic primary.

Polisena also denies, as he did during our , that he's planning to run for statewide office.
