News Brief: Langevin Brings Anti-Bullying Message To Ferri Students

The U.S. Congressman reminds students of the importance of safe Internet use.

U.S. Rep. James Langevin paid a visit to students at on March 28, with a clear message: Be safe when using online websites, and watch out for cyberbullies.

Appearing with Mayor Joseph M. Polisena and state Sen. John J. Tassoni Jr. (D-Dist. 22), Langevin told the students: "We're asking you to be real leaders and heroes" by taking proper steps to protect themselves online.

"Anything you put online stays there forever," Langevin explained. "I just want you to be aware that as you're sending things out there that you're protecting your privacy."

Tassoni, who chairs the Special Senate Commission on Cyberbullying and Cyberthreats, explained to the students that five bills before the General Assembly are aimed at further protecting kids online.

"It's an epidemic," Tassoni said of cyberbullying. Be careful (because) what you post today could be detrimental tomorrow."
