New Library Gets New Traffic Pattern

The entrance at Memorial and Atwood Avenues will now be two-way to the parking lot of the new Mohr Library.

On April 9, the new Marian J. Mohr Library is scheduled to open in its new location, just a few yards from the original library building — and the town is putting a new traffic pattern in place to help folks find the new parking lot.

Changing what had been the traffic pattern on Memorial Avenue for several years — one-way travel from Hartford Avenue, through Johnston Memorial Park, ending at Atwood Avenue across from Johnston High School — town officials have reconfigured the last 50 yards or so to be two-way.

On March 31, Department of Public Works personnel set up orange cones and temporary signs to create the two-way pattern. Two stop signs were also put in place recently at the entrance to the new Mohr Library.
