Lombardo Delivers Grants to Rec Department

The state senator awarded two grants totaling $7,000 to the parks and recreation department on Jan. 4.

Kennedy Field, Johnston's main Little League baseball field at , will soon have new fencing, thanks to a $4,000 legislative grant provided by Sen. Frank Lombardo.

During a brief presentation ceremony at the office on Jan. 4, Director Dan Mazzulla explained the work to replace the fencing is long overdue.

"If I'm not mistaken, that's the original fence from years ago," Mazzulla said. "We're going to do the right and left field sides this year, and next year we'll do the rest of the fence."

Lombardo also awarded $3,000 the Johnston Community Center Association, which coordinated the recent effort to build the new soccer complex behind .
