Latest Snow Response Cost $60,500

The cost covers town snow-clearing operations and private contracts to treat local roads.

Johnston's response to the major snowstorm that hit the area January 11 and 12 cost the town $60,500, a slight increase from the amount spent on an earlier storm in late December, Chief of Staff Doug Jeffrey said today.

During a phone interview from , Jeffrey said the amount covers both town and privately-contracted efforts to clear snow from local roads during the height of the storm, and to remove fallen tree limbs and utility wires after the snow had passed.

"We were pretty efficient — that's what kept the cost down," Jeffrey said.
