Johnston Senator Named to Three Committees

First-term Sen. Stephen Archambault will serve on the Judiciary, Government Oversight and Environment & Agriculture committees.


Sen. Stephen Archambault, of Johnston, and is beginning his first term as a member of the Senate, has been named to three standing Senate committees for the 2013-2014 General Assembly session, Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed announced Tuesday. 

Archambault, who represents Johnston, Smithfield and North Providence, was appointed to the Committee on Judiciary, the Committee on Government Oversight and the Committee on Environment & Agriculture. 

The Committee on Judiciary considers legislation and matters which affect the penal code, judicial system, ethics, open meetings, access to public records and election laws.

The Committee on Government Oversight monitors and evaluates past, current and prospective performance of public bodies and statutory entities, including quasi-public agencies, and considers the organization, re-organization, creation or termination of those bodies. 

The Committee on Environment & Agriculture considers all legislation and matters relating to the conservation of the air, land, water, plant, animal, mineral and other natural resources of the state.
