Johnston Senator Named Majority Whip

Sen. Frank Lombardo will assume the leadership role, the senate announced Wednesday.


Sen. Frank Lombardo III, of Johnston, has been appointed the Deputy Majority Whip of the Rhode Island Senate for the 2013-2014 legislative session, Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed announced Wednesday. 

The deputy majority whip works in conjunction with the Senate’s majority whip as leaders of the majority (Democratic) party who help ensure party discipline and policy during the legislative session, according to a General Assembly release. 

Lombardo is serving his second term in the Rhode Island Senate. In addition to his leadership responsibilities, he will also serve this session as the secretary of the Senate Committee on Labor and a member of the Senate Committee on Corporations.
