Johnston Events for May 12 and 13: Mother's Day Fun, Shred, Flick

Mother's Day:

Did you know there's a new mom at Roger Williams Park Zoo? The zoo's giant anteater, Corndog, recently gave birth to Inara — and the zoo is holding presentations on the new addition on Saturday and Sunday.

[And if you've looking to save a few bucks, admission for moms is free this weekend when accompanied by a child — plus the zoo is giving away flowers to the first 500 moms who stop by after 11 am.]

For a really unique Mother's Day, why not take a cruise on the Majestic, out of Bowen's Wharf in Newport? The 2-1/2 hour cruise boards at 12:45 pm Sunday. Tickets are $45 plus tax for adults, $25.25 plus tax for kids.

Shredding Event:

The , HQ'd right here in Johnston, has scheduled a free community shredding event at Glocester Town Hall for Saturday at 9 am, in collaboration with Shred 'n Go of Johnston. Limit: two boxes. Donations welcome.

Classic Film:

The Film Club at Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library is scheduled to view Wuthering Heights, starring Laurence Olivier, at 2 pm Saturday. Free.
