Johnston Events, Apr. 21 and 22: Earth Day, Softball, Explorers

A cleanup at Neutaconkanut Hill, Opening Day for girls' softball, and the annual fundraiser for the Johnston Police Explorers are on this weekend's calendar in Johnston.

Earth Day: During the day tomorrow, the Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy is scheduled to host its Earth Day program, focusing on adding new greenery, removing invasive vines, and sprucing up walking paths in the park that borders Johnston and Providence. More info: (401) 946-6594 or (401) 943-1219.

Softball: Woodlake Park is the site for tomorrow's Opening Day for the Johnston Girls' Softball League, set to begin at 9 am. Rain date: Apr. 28.

Vaccinate: Do you have a pet who needs its rabies vaccine? Take your furry friend over to Rainone Gym on Mill Street for a rabies clinic, scheduled to run from 8 to 10 am. Cost is $12 per pet. Three-year and one-year vaccines will be available. You will need to show your animal's vaccination certificate in order to qualify for the three-year inoculation.

Explorers: The Johnston Police Explorers Post #405 is scheduled to host its 17th annual Macaroni & Meatball Dinner fundraiser on Sunday at 1 pm at Johnston High School. Cost is $8 to $10 per person, includes macaroni, meatballs, soup, salad, bread, desserts and beverages. A great way to support a great program.
