Hazardous Weather Warning Issued For Johnston

National Weather Service warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight.


The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Johnston and most of Rhode Island for today and tonight.

A weak cold front sweeping through New England is acting as a focus for rain with heavy downpours and isolated thunderstorms. Rainfall is expected at 1 inch per hour. A total rainfall of two inches is possible and may lead to urban flooding and small stream flooding, according to the NWS.

Showers are likely, with a possible thunderstorm before 4 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after.  Today will be cloudy, with a high near 80 degrees, and a west wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
