Funaro v. Town of Johnston, R.I. Third District Court Case #05-2470
This is the civil rights case brought against the town by Gina and John Funaro in 2005. It was released by Mayor Joseph M. Polisena on March 23, 2011.
The attached document is the lawsuit filed by Gina and John Fusaro in May, 2005, against the , the Johnston School Department, officers of the Johnston Police Department, and seven girls who bullied the Funaro's daughter between 2001 and 2005.
At a press conference held March 23, Mayor Joseph M. Polisena released the suit in announcing that Providence Superior Court had overturned a $4.35 million damages award levied against the town through a default judgment, meaning the administration of the late former Mayor William Macera had not contested the ruling.
