FM Global of Johnston recently announced the completion of a $3-million and install sidewalks and other pedestrian-friendly features.
According to a statement released by the company, the project began in August, 2010, and included movement of several utility poles to accomodate the new travel lane on the northbound side of Atwood Avenue in front of the former Allendale Insurance campus.
The company reported that minor traffic signal and landscaping work are scheduled for later this month.
By August 12, the final lane striping had been completed on Atwood Avenue — see the attached photo gallery for before and after views of the project.
“I would like to sincerely thank all of our neighbors and local area businesses for their cooperation and extraordinary patience throughout the course of this project, “said Donald Oldmixon, vice president of real estate for FM Global, said in the statement. “We’re confident that these new long-term roadway improvements, along one of the Town’s busiest thoroughfares, will help to promote more streamlined travel for tens of thousands of daily travelers.”
