5 Things: Yom Kippur, Voter Registration, Workouts

It's Sept. 26, 2012, and here are your 5 Things to Know Today.

1. Yom Kippur: The Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur began last night at sunset, and continues today. See schedules of services near Johnston.

2. Voting: There are less than two weeks left to register to vote in this year's election [deadline in RI is Oct. 7]. We've got all you need to know about registering to vote.

3. Workouts: Forget the pricey gyms — with just a $10 annual membership fee, the Johnston Senior Center offers great exercise programs like these on today's schedule:

  • Walk Away the Pounds, 9 am
  • Zumba, 10:30 am
  • Ballroom Dancing, 1 pm

4. History: Learn about the Johnston Historical Society — and the story of the burning of the Gaspee — at tonight's General Meeting, scheduled for 7 pm in the Museum Barn on Putnam Pike.

5. Weather in 10 Words: Rain. Highs in 70s. Fog and rain tonight. Clearing tomorrow.
