Budget hearing tonight; walk with cops; Chamber events; Friends of Mohr meet; and today in history: The end of the longest baseball game.

Town Budget: The Johnston Town Council is schedued to meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Court to review Mayor Joseph Polisena's budget proposal for fiscal 2012. A Nice Stroll: And a safe one, too, since there will be officers from the Johnston Police Department around. Today's another scheduled Walk with Cops at Memorial Park beginning at 9:30 a.m. Weather permitting.

Chamber Events: The North Central Chamber of Commerce, located right here in Johnston, is hosting a learning seminar on LinkedIn and Facebook at the Greenville Library from noon to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and incudes a light lunch. Later today, the Chamber is scheduled to hold a Business After Hours at UNO Chicago Grill in Smithfield beginning at 5 p.m. Call the Chamber to register.

Support The Library: The Friends of Mohr, a nonprofit organization that helps the local library raise funds for important events and equipment, is scheduled to hold its monthly meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the new library's meeting room. Follow the link for more information.
