5 Things To Know Today: June 13

Town council meeting; free fitness class at The Bridge; summer camp sign-ups; Bingo in Cranston; and today in history: The lights at Fenway.

Meeting: The Johnston Town Council is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Court. Watch JohnstonPatch for coverage before and after the session.

Workout: The Bridge at Cherry Hill, at the corner of Greenville Avenue and — you guessed it — Cherry Hil Road is hosting a free fitness class at 1:15 p.m., part of the assisted living facility's "Join Us In June" program.

Sign-Ups: You're counting down the days until the end of the school year — and wondering what to do with the kids over the summer. Johnston Parks and Recreation has your answer, with their summer day camp program starting July 5. There are less than two weeks left to register your children.

Bingo: Johnston youth sports get a boost every week, thanks to proceeds from the weekly Bingo night held at the Riviera Hall in Cranston. Plunk down $13 and you could win $1,000. Doors open at 4 p.m.; games at 6:15.

Night Games: On this date in 1947, the Boston Red Sox played their first game under lights at Fenway Park. Must have improved their sight, because they beat the White Sox, 5-3.
