Wind Chill Advisory Issued For Johnston

Temperatures may feel as cold as 11 below zero from through the morning.

As you head out to work this morning, it is advised you bundle up, as the wind chill is expected to send the feel-like temperature plummeting to 11 below 0.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory for parts of RI as well as locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut, in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. today.

This morning's single-digit air temperature, combined with northwest winds of 10 - 15 mph and gusts of 25 mph will result in dangerously cold wind chill values that are expected to dip down as low as 11 degrees below 0, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials urge extreme caution for anyone traveling. The threat of frostbite or hypothermia will be heightened with these conditions in effect. People should also check in on senior citizens and those who may need assistance. Temperatures should rise only into the mid-teens throughout the day, and another round of precipitation could dump another inch of snow over the area tonight.
