Traffic Stop Leads To Teen Sex Charges

State Police stopped Armand Thibodeau in Johnston on June 30 and found a 15-year-old girl in his car.

A traffic stop in Johnston on June 30 led to federal charges against a Fall River man of driving a minor across state lines for sex.

Armand Thibodeau, 27, was charged with pursuading a minor to travel across state lines for sex and engaging in illicit sexual behavior. He was arraigned on July 1 and released on $50,000 unsecured bond and home confinement, according to a press release from U.S. Atty. Peter F. Neronha.

According to Neronha, Rhode Island State Police stopped Thibodeau's car in Johnston for speeding at around midnight on June 30 and found a 15-year-old girl in his car.

State Police detectives, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force gathered further information that led to the charges against Thibodeau.
