Police Issue Statement on Murder Investigation, Jan. 23, 2012.

Early in the year, Johnston Police charged Donald Greenslit with multiple felonies in the death of Greenslit's girlfriend, Stacey Dorego. Police allege that Greenslit killed Dorego and tried to burn her body in a fireplace. Greenslit remains held at the ACI awaiting trial.

State Police Report Arrests in Johnston, June 18, 2012.

This was one of the first Rhode Island State Police logs we posted this year, and it drew big numbers. The report included a couple of warrant arrests, and one case of marijuana and illegal vicodin possession.

Two Arrested After Alleged Prescription Deal, Jan. 14, 2012.

We can only hope this doesn't turn into a plot point on "The Family Guy" — two local men were arrested for what police say was an attempted drug deal involving prescription drugs at The Drunken Clam on Greenville Street.

Council Shuts Down Club Bebeto, Apr. 10, 2012.

Following reports of illegal serving of alcohol and suspected gang activity, Johnston Police Chief Richard Tamburini asked the Johnston Town Council to revoke the license of Club Bebeto. Councilors voted 5-0 in favor of shutting down the club.

State of Emergency Declared for RI, Oct. 28, 2012.

With Hurricane [later renamed Superstorm] Sandy bearing down on Rhode Island, Gov. Lincoln Chafee declared a state of emergency and activiated the state's emergency response system.
