Oct. 15: WPRI: Crash Shuts Down Hartford Avenue
The week started with a report, first posted in WPRI.com, of a late-night car accident on Hartford Avenue that sent two people to the hospital.
Tuesday's report from the Rhode Island State Police included the arrest of a Johnston man for violating terms of probation — six days before the probation period was due to expire.
In a follow-up to our Sept. 28 report about a North Providence woman sought by police after her ex-husband told Johnston Police that she had tried to hit him with her van, Wednesday's top story noted her surrender and appearance in court on felony charges.
Although police didn't say it was a case of texting while driving, an Oct. 13 crash was apparently caused by the driver looking down to answer his phone. Problem is, when he took his eyes off the road, his car crashed into a parked pickup truck on George Waterman Road. Officers also charged him with driving with an expired license.
