Tinted Windows Lead To Possession Charges

A Johnston police officer reported that he pulled over the car driven by a Providence man because of its dark window tint.

A Providence man faces a felony count of cocaine possession and other drug charges after a traffic stop on Jan. 13.

charged Joseph J. Jimenez, 30, of Providence, with a felony count of cocaine possession and four misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession, first offense; driving with a suspended license; driving in possession of controlled substances; and a Providence Police Department arrest warrant for domestic simple assault.

Ptlm. Joseph Salvadore reported that he pulled Jimenez's car over on Jan. 13 at about 5:25 p.m. because of the dark window tint on it.

A check of Jimenez's license showed that it was suspended; Salvadore wrote that he placed Jimenez under arrest and searched Jimenez and the car.

According to Salvadore, the search of Jimenez yielded a small plastic baggie holding a substance that looked like cocaine.

Jimenez allegedly admitted that it was cocaine, and that that he had “just bought for the weekend,” according to Salvadore’s report.

Salvadore reported that he found another baggie with cocaine and three baggies with marijuana when he inventoried the car.

Jimenez was arraigned and released on $10,000 personal recognizance and issued a March 16 court date. Officers then turned Jimenez over to the Providence Police in response to the active warrant.
