Suspect in Baseball Bat Assault Surrenders to JPD

Johnston Police charged Michael Norton, of Cranston, with felony assault after he turned himself in this afternoon.

 

The suspect in an Aug. 18 baseball bat attack surrendered to this afternoon, Deputy Chief David DeCesare announced.

In an email message, DeCesare said that Michael Norton, of Cranston, turned himself in after local police issued an arrest warrant for him.

Norton is scheduled to appear in Third District Court, Warwick, for arraignment on one count of felony assault, DeCesare noted.

Johnston Police allege that Norton hit an as-yet unidentified victim with a baseball bat at a party held at 101 Borden Ave.

The 25-year-old Johnston resident was transported to Rhode Island Hopital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
