State Grand Jury Indicts 25 Arrested In Mob Sweep

Among the defendants are seven Johnston residents.

Seven Johnston residents were among 25 people indicted on various organized crime charges by the statewide grand jury on Nov. 2.

Atty. Gen. Peter Kilmartin announced the indictments in a press release this morning.

All of the defendants were arrested after State Police broke up an alleged gambling ring in May, 2011, and are scheduled for arraignment on Dec. 7.

Vincent R. Tallo, of Poppy Hill Road, was the alleged leader of the gambling ring that included known Mafia figures. One of the 25, Alfred Scivola, was arrested in Las Vegas, NV, and has been in federal custody. The rest have been out on bail since their arraignments in May, except for Frank L. "Bobo" Marrapese, of Cranston, who was held without bail for violating parole.
