Soccer Field Vandalism Cases Settled — Mayor to Speak at 10 am

Mayor Joseph Polisena is scheduled to hold a press conference at the Johnston Soccer Complex about Friday's dispositions in Third District Court.

 

Some three and a half months after Johnston Police , the case against two local men was settled on Friday in Third District Court, Warwick.

Mayor Joseph Polisena — who and said he intended to have Raymond Zinno and Costanzo Caparrelli pay for the damage — has called a press conference for 10 am this morning at the Johnston Soccer Complex to speak about the end of the case.

According to online court records, dispositions were held on Friday for Zinno and Caparrelli, who were 18 at the time of the incident and who both previously pleaded not guilty to one misdemeanor count each of destruction of public property with over $100 in damages.

Each man's entry states "paid in full," but there was no information available as to the amount they paid to close the case.

Polisena previously — torn up when police say Zinno and Caparrelli drove their vehicles over the snowy turf, digging up clumps of grass and damaging the sprinkler system — at more than $15,000.

An employee of the Johnston Parks and Recreation Department reported finding the damage on Mar. 3, and according to police, Zinno returned that same night to drive over the field again.

A — one an Isuzu SUV, the other a Subaru passenger car — being driven around the field in a circular pattern, causing the damage.
