Smithfield Woman Faces Fake Rx Charges

Johnston Police arrested Heidi Machado, 40, on Sept. 22.

Following her recent arrest by Johnston Police on fake prescription charges, a Smithfield woman was ordered held without bail on past warrants.

Heidi Machado, 40, of 7 Waltham St., faces two felony counts after workers at the CVS Pharmacy on Putnam Avenue said she had passed a scrip for 20 mg of Oxycodone and claimed it had been signed by a local doctor who, when contacted, denied she was his patient.

Ptlm. Stephen Altomari, who responded to the CVS on Sept. 22, wrote in his report that officers found Machado on Dean Avenue after the store workers provided a description.

Johnston Police officers had arrested Machado for driving without a license twice within nine days of each other in January, 2013, and warrants had been issued in both cases when Machado did not attend court hearings.

A hearing on the two new charges is set for Nov. 21. Machado is also due for pre-trial hearings on the previous charges on Oct. 11.
