Update: WW Man Held Without Bail In Sexual Assault Case

Tyler Driscoll, 20, is scheduled for arraignment on August 5, the Providence Journal reported.

A West Warwick man was ordered held without bail following his arrest on July 27 on charges of sexually assaulting two girls, ages 15 and 16, in .

Tyler Driscoll, 20, of 54 Robinson Way, West Warwick, became friends with one of the teens through Facebook on July 26, according to police. The two exchanged phone numbers and began sending text messages to each other, Johnston Police Deputy Chief David DeCesare said during an interview on August 1.

On July 27, the teen Driscoll befriended was spending the night with two other teenage girls at a Johnston residence, DeCesare said. Driscoll drove from West Warwick and picked up the three girls near the residence at around 11 p.m.

Driscoll allegedly drove the girls to Johnston Memorial Park and gave the girls alcohol, DeCesare said, adding the teens told police Driscoll did not drink the alcohol.

The girls became highly intoxicated and Driscoll “took one of the three juveniles for a walk in the park, at which time a sexual assault took place,” said DeCesare.

Driscoll then took one of the teens home, but did not sexually assault her, and then drove back to the park. He then allegedly sexually assaulted the third teen.

“After that he drove the other two juveniles back to the area of the residence they were staying, assaulted one of the juveniles in the
vehicle, and basically just dumped them out,” said DeCesare. “He forcibly pulled them out of the vehicle.”

The teens stumbled back to the residence, DeCesare explained. When their parents saw the teens, they brought the girls to the hospital to be checked out for intoxication.

The parents had no idea what had happened, DeCesare said — it wasn’t until the teens were at the hospital that everything came to light.

The hospital called the Johnston Police Department around 1 a.m. to report that, based on medical examinations, the girls had been assaulted.

Police charged Driscoll with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of simple assault, and three counts of procuring alcohol for a minor. He was ordered held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

Driscoll had no prior arrests before this incident, according to DeCesare.

The Providence Journal reported on July 29 that Driscoll is scheduled for arraignment on August 5.
