Providence Man Charged in Scrap Metal Theft

Police said James DeCaba stole about $200 worth of scrap metal from Rosciti Construction.

Johnston Police charged a 48-year-old Providence man with larceny and vandalism after he allegedly stole scrap metal and damaged a fence at Rosciti Construction on King Phillip Road.

According to police, James DeCaba, of 344 Washington St., Providence, was seen by an employee of a nearby business dragging metal from Rosciti Construction into the back of a pickup truck.

The employee got the plate number for the truck and police soon tracked it down to DeCaba, who said he thought that the scrap metal was discarded material that nobody wanted.
