Police 'Not Resting Easy Yet,' Says JPD Chief

Johnston Police Chief Richard S. Tamburini addressed the media on Monday morning on the Aug. 11 double murder and kidnapping on Oaktree Drive.

Saying that he and his officers are "not resting easy yet," Johnston Police Chief Richard S. Tamburini held a press conference at about 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, to outline the charges against Daniel Rodriguez, 28, the main suspect in a double murder and kidnapping on Aug. 11.

Officers arraigned Rodriguez at Johnston Police headquarters on two counts of murder, three counts of using a firearm in a violent crime, one count of kidnapping, and one count of burglary, and one count of lacking a firearm license.

The three children found at the Oaktree Drive home — including 2-year-old Isaiah Perez, reported missing on Sunday and located by Providence Police near the Chad Brown complex — were in the care of the state Department of Children, Youth, and Families and reunited with their family members on Monday morning, Tamburini said.

Johnston Police officers and detectives then took Rodriquez to the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston to await further court hearings.
