Police arrested Robert Rose, of 217 Lenox Ave., Providence, on a felony charge of using a forged prescription and two outstanding court warrants on Oct. 4 after Rose allegedly tried to get Oxycodone from the CVS pharmacy at 1400 Hartford Ave.

According to Ptlm. Joseph McGinn's report, Rose went into the pharmacy at about 6:30 p.m. and gave the pharmacist a prescription that turned out to be fake. The pharmacist reportedly called the doctor listed on the prescription and learned that the person named on the form was not a patient.

After Sgts. David Alverson and Michael Babbitt found Rose walking in the parking lot of a nearby shopping plaza, Rose reportedly tried to hide in a nail salon.

Once officer took custody of Rose, he reportedly told them that he'd been brought to the CVS by a friend, identified as Linda Speaks, who promised him $100 to pick up the prescription.

A check of Rose's Bureau of Criminal Identification record returned 27 prior arrests, McGinn reported.

Active Warrant And Marijuana Possession Arrest:

Police arrested Tiffany Desper, of 268 Greenville Ave., on Oct. 5 on one count of possession of marijuana, one count of driving in possession of a controlled substance, and an outstanding court warrant following a traffic stop.

On Oct. 5 at about 6:45 p.m., Sgt. David Alverson stopped the Toyota Corolla being driven by Desper after he saw a Massachusetts inspection sticker on the car, which also had Rhode Island license plates.

After speaking to Desper about the mismatched registration plates and inspection sticker — she told Alverson that she had purchased the car that day, and produced a bill of sale and Massachusetts title for the car — Alverson learned that Third District Court in Warwick had issued a warrant for Desper for failure to appear in court.

Alverson reported that he then "instructed Desper to exit the vehicle," and noticed that she was "clutching a black purse close to her chest in a nervous and unusual manner."

A search of the purse found two small plastic bags with what was later identified as marijuana.

Desper was arraigned on Oct. 5 at police headquarters on the two misdemeanor drug charges and released on $1,000 personal recognizance until a scheduled Oct. 19 hearing in District Court.

She also paid $219.50 in surety bail on the outstanding warrant on Oct. 5, then appeared at a hearing in Third District Court the next day where she paid the outstanding fines.
