Police Log: Oct. 28 To 31

This is a summary of reports provided to JohnstonPatch by the Johnston Police Department for Oct. 28 to Oct. 31. Where an arrest is reported, it does not indicate a conviction.

Bicyclist strikes car:

responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist on Oct. 28 around 3 p.m.

The driver of the Toyota involved in the collision told Ptlm. Jeffrey Fryer he was exiting the parking lot at 1757 Plainfield St, when a car stopped so he could pull out of the parking lot.

Before he moved his car forward, the cyclist struck his car, according to the report.

The bicycle rider, Christian Bourdon, told Fryer his view was obstructed by a parked car, and he did not see the Toyota.

Bourdon's bike kit the front bumper of the car, and Bourdon suffered an injury to his lower left leg.

Possession of marijuana:

Johnston Police charged Monique D. Drouillard, 18, of 91 SE Main St., Douglas, MA, and Jacob E. Garvin, 18, of 17 Valentine Circle, Warwick, on one charge each of possession of marijuana, first offense, after officers found them in tehe parking lot of Our Lady of Grace Church at about 1 a.m. on Oct. 29.

Det. Lt. Frank Levesque and Det. Christopher DeCesare were on patrol in an unmarked police vehicle when they reportedly found two men standing near the open truck of a car.

DeCesare pulled into the parking lot and two males and two females inside the parked car, according to the report. When DeCesare instructed the driver, Monique Drouillard, to roll down the window, DeCesare stated in his report that the odor of marijuana "immediately emanated from the inside of the car."

Levesque called for uniformed back-up and a search by Ptlm. Philip Viens and his K-9, Bono.

As DeCesare spoke with Drouillard, he noticed a plastic baggy sticking out of from her sweatshirt pocket, according to his report. A small amount of marijuana was evident in the baggy, leading DeCesare to arrest Drouillard for possession.

During a search of the car, Bono indicated that there was a marijuana in the trunk, and a search revealed about 29 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag. The owner of the car, Jacob Garvin, admitted the marijuana belonged to him, according to Levesque’s report.

Drouillard and Garvin were arraigned and released on $1,000 personal recognizance with arraignment dates set for Nov. 9.
