Police Log: May 15 to May 19

This is a summary of reports provided to JohnstonPatch by the Johnston Police Department and found on the RI State Police website for May 15 to May 19, 2011.

Accident with injuries:

Patrolman Michael G. Edwards, along with Sgt. Boulet and Patrolmen Parascondolo and McGinn, responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries around 5:30 p.m. on May 15. The accident occurred at 2842 Hartford Ave. in the left east bound travel lane.

Anthony J. Macera, of 20 Lady Slipper Lane, Scituate, was driving a 2003 Toyota 4- Runner and was at a complete stop waiting to make a left turn when his 4-Runner was struck from behind, according to the police report. Christopher M. McMahon, of 87 Freeman St., Warwick, was driving a 1993 Honda Civic east bond in the left travel lane. McMahon told Edwards that he didn’t see the 4-Runner stopped ahead of him. McMahon said he was unable to stop and his car struck the Toyota.

Macera’s vehicle sustained scratches and dents to the bumper and trailer hitch assembly, according to Edwards’ report. The Civic sustained heavy front end damage and needed to be towed from the accident scene. McMahon and a passenger in the 4-Runner were transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Obstruction arrest:

After a month long investigation, Rhode Island State Troopers arrested Davon Ellis, of 23 Becker Ave., Johnston. The arrest occurred on May 17 at 10 a.m. Ellis faces a charge of obstructing an officer in the execution of duty following a motor vehicle pursuit that was terminated by State Troopers. Ellis was processed at the State Police Headquarters and arraigned in 6th District Court.

Possession of marijuana:

Leo Levesque, of 35 Serrel Sweet Road, Johnston, turned himself in at State Police Headquarters at 6:30 p.m. on May 17. The arrest followed a month long investigation. Levesque was arraigned at headquarters and released with a court date.

Bench warrant arrests:

On May 19 at 10: 30 a.m., troopers from the State Police Lincoln Barracks arrested Nancy Aquino, of 4 Cleveland St., Johnston, following a motor vehicle stop in Providence. Aquino was arrested on a 6th District Court Bench warrant for failure to appear on a possession of marijuana charge. She was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and turned over to the 6th District Court.

Joseph Parrillo, of 6 Terrace Ave., Johnston, was arrested by Rhode Island State Troopers on May 19 on a warrant from the 3rd District Court and the 6th District Court. Both warrants were for failure to appear/ability to pay on charges of driving with a suspended license. He was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and turned over to the 6th District Court.
