Police Log: March 21 to March 24

This is a summary of reports provided to Johnston Patch by the Johnston Police Department for March 21 to March 24, 2011.

Electronic items stolen from CVS:

Patrolman Michael Andreozzi responded to CVS Pharmacy at 1993 Plainfield St. on March 21 around 8 p.m. for a report of a larceny. Two males entered the store at 7:30 p.m. The man that entered the store first was in his late teens or early twenties, either Hispanic or black, wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers, according to the police report. The second suspect to enter the store also appeared to be in his late teens or early twenties, according to Andreozzi’s report. He was a white man with red hair and he was wearing tan pants, white sneakers, and a brown hooded jacket with an unknown logo on the front.

The two suspects left the store with two LCD TVs, two digital recorders, and a light blast projector. The total of the stolen items was $499.95. The men were caught on video tape entering the store empty handed and then leaving with the items without paying for them.  A customer saw the men running west on Plainfield Street.

Johnston man allegedly chokes girlfriend:

Johnston Police Sgt. Seth Crosby, Patrolman David Loffler, Patrolman Michael Protano, and Patrolman Luca Lcancellotti Jr. responded to 6 Springfield Ave. on Wednesday, March 23 around 4:50 p.m. for a domestic disturbance that was in progress. The victim, along with two witnesses, told Lancellotti that Charles D. Lacroix was drinking beer all day and when he ran out of money he asked the victim, his girlfriend, for money. When she refused, Lacroix reportedly became angry and started to yell. The victim told Lacroix to hand over her cell phone because she was going to call the police. Lacroix told her no and then put the phone in his zippered pants pocket, according to Lancellotti’s report.  Lacroix then allegedly lunged at the victim and began to choke her.

Lacroix’ mother and cousin had to strike him with a metal walking cane to get him off of the victim. The victim then used the cousin’s cell phone to call the Johnston Police. 

Lacroix, 27, of 6 Springfield St., Johnston, was arrested on a charge of domestic simple assault/battery, refusing/relinquishing a telephone, and domestic disorderly conduct. Lacroix was arraigned and released on $2,500 personal recognizance, and a no contact order was issued between Lacroix and the victim.
