Police Log: July 9 to July 13

This is a summary of reports provided to JohnstonPatch by the Johnston Police Department for July 9 to July 13. It does not indicate a conviction.

Thief damages HVAC system

Lauren Andreoni, owner of Gem Ravioli, reported on July 12 that copper piping had been stolen from the property at 58 Greenville Ave. Patrolman Michael Protano responded to the business around 5:30 p.m, and Andreoni told him that the copper piping attaching the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system to the property was stolen.

The HVAC unit is not functional without the piping and the unit needs to be replaced because it cannot be repaired, according to Protano’s report. The cost of replacing the unit is about $5,000.

stated in his report that he noticed damage to the door of the residence that was caused by force entry.

Lemieux entered the vacant house and discovered that the copper piping and wiring were removed from the basement. Currently there are no suspects.
