This is a summary of reports provided to JohnstonPatch by the Johnston Police Department for Jan. 27 to Jan. 29, 2012. Where an arrest is reported, it does not indicate a conviction.

Car Accident Leads To Charges:

arrested David Silva, of North Providence, on one count of driving with a suspended license on Jan. 27 following a car accident on Greenville Avenue. A passenger in his vehicle was also arrested on an active court warrant.

Ptlm. John DeAngelis reported that he found two cars on the westbound side of the road at about 3:30 p.m. Lisa Coutu, of Johnston, told DeAngelis that she had been approaching an intersection when the 1998 Nissan driven by Silva collided with her SUV.

Silva and Carosi were arraigned at police headquarters and released pending court hearings in February.

Car Hits Garage:

Ptlm. David Loffler reported that on Jan. 29 just before 5 p.m., he responded to 65 Downing Drive where he found a gray Honda Accord "protruding from the garage."

The driver of the car, Jessica Cairone, told Loffler that she was parking her car in front of the garage and was intending to drive in reverse when the car "lunged forward," according to Loffler's report.

Loffler wrote that the Honda went through the garage door and struck a silver BMW parked inside, pushing it into a wood burning stove and an oil furnace.

Johnston Fire Department personnel disconnected the oil furnace and advised the owner to have it professionally serviced before trying to use it again.

Cairone's car was towed from the scene, and Loffler reported that he advised Cairone to have the car inspected by a mechanic before driving it again.
