Domestic Breaking and Entering

Patrolmen Derrick Palazzo and Derek Parascandolo, along with Lt. Richard Naorato and Sgt. Leduc, responded to a call of suspicious noises at 18 Greenville Ave. at 2:30 a.m. New Year's morning. Witnesses reported seeing a tall, skinny man knocking loudly on the front door of 18 Greenville Ave. The witnesses heard the man yelling obscenities and crying. The witnesses then heard glass break.

Patrolmen Parascandolo and Palazzo entered the apartment at 18 Greenville Ave. and found it empty. The front glass window was "broken from the inside-out and shards of glass were found on the sidewalk," read Palazzo's report. There were wooden splinters in the hallway and there was a large hole at the bottom of the front door of the apartment. The handle and lock on the door were also heavily damaged.  The female who lives in the apartment arrived at the scene and told the police that she had a verbal argument with her boyfriend, David M. Rossi, earlier that night. She also told the police that Rossi continued to text her throughout the night and into the morning.

Ross, 27, of 15 South Fairview St., Johnston, was arrested on a charge of domestic breaking and entering a dwelling or house without consent and domestic disorderly conduct. He was arraigned and held at the ACI on $2,000 surety bail.

Disc Jockey arrested on 2nd Offense of DUI

Patrolman Kevin Brady and Lt. Frank Levesque were patrolling in an unmarked police car around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when they saw a car being driven erratically on Plainfield St. The car was traveling at 22 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone. The car swerved in and out of its lane. The driver then entered onto Interstate 295 and swerved into the breakdown lane, then into the left travel lane. The driver "suddenly accelerated to 75 mph in a posted 65 mph zone," Levesque said in his report.

Levesque turned on the sirens and lights and pulled the vehicle over. When Brady and Levesque approached the car, the driver was identified as Louis A. Caruolo Jr. Brady saw Caruolo allegedly try to conceal an object between the driver's side seat and the center console. The object was later identified as an open 187 ml. bottle of chardonnay with a small amount of wine in the bottle. Levesque detected a "strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from Caruolo's breath and person." Levesque also reported that Caruolo's eyes were blood shot and his speech was mumbled. Brady asked Caruolo if he had been drinking, he said he had a couple of mixed drinks earlier in the evening when he was working. Caruolo told the officers that he was working as a disc jockey that night at Grumpy's Bar and Grille in Cranston and he was traveling home before he was stopped. The report stated that Caruolo could not explain why he was driving north on 295 instead of south if he was going home to West Warwick. When Caruolo exited his car "he stumbled on his feet nearly falling to the ground," Brady said in his report. Caruolo said he was unable to perform the walk and turn test because of a prior back surgery. He was placed under arrest of DUI and when Brady searched Caruolo he discovered two tablets of hydrocodone (vicodin).

Caruolo, 38, of 805 Providence St., West Warwick, was arrested on a charge of possession of a scheduled substance, driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol – second offense, driving in possession of a controlled substance, and refusal to a chemical test.
