Police Log: April 25 to April 28

This is a summary of reports provided to Johnston Patch by the Johnston Police Department for April 25 to April 28, 2011.

Auburn Avenue Breaking and Entering:

Patrolman Luca A. Lancellotti Jr. responded to 35 Auburn Ave. around 11 a.m. on Monday, April 25, for a call of a breaking and entering. The victim, David Ferguson, told Lancellotti that he thought his neighbor, Joseph DiRaimo, stole four tires and rims from his residence at 35 Auburn Ave. A witness notified Ferguson that he saw DiRaimo remove the tires and rims from the screened porch at the back of the residence.  The tires and rims had an estimated value of $2,700.

When Det.Christopher DeCesare presented a photo line-up to the witness on Wednesday, April 27, the witness picked out DiRaimo’s photo from the line-up. Det. Lt. Frank Levesque, Det. DeCesare and Det. James H. Brady drove to 35 Auburn Ave. in an attempt to locate DiRaimo. They found him standing in the street near 41 Auburn Ave. DiRaimo was then taken into custody.

DiRaimo allegedly confessed to detectives that he broke into his neighbor’s house and stole the four times and rims. He told the detectives he “was going to scrap them for money,” according to the report. Joseph R. DiRaimo, 26, of 42 Auburn Ave., Johnston, was arrested on a charge of breaking and entering a dwelling or house without consent.

Violation of No Contact Order:

Johnston Police Patrolman Philip E. Viens responded to 4 Joy St. around 8:48 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 in response to a violation of a no contact order. Jeina Onishi of 4 Joy St. has a no contact order against Eduardo A. Lopez, 26, of 270 Greenville Ave., Johnston. At about 8:15 a.m. Lopez allegedly was ringing the door bell at 4 Joy St. and was yelling for Onishi to open the door. Onishi yelled from the second floor window and told Lopez to leave, according to the police report. Onishi said she saw Lopez walk to a car parked out front and retrieve a long metal bar. Lopez allegedly used the pry bar to open the front door and then was banging and yelling at Onishi’s door on the second floor telling her to let him in. She called the police. Lopez allegedly went downstairs when the police arrived.

Viens stated in his report that he observed pry marks on the front door jam and on the upstairs door jam that lead to Onishi’s apartment. Lopez was arrested on a charge of breaking and entering house without consent, domestic attempted breaking and entering, violation of a no contact order, and domestic disorderly conduct.
