Police Log: April 15 to April 21

This is a summary of reports provided to Johnston Patch by the Johnston Police Department for April 15 to April 21, 2011.

Cannabis, prescription drug possession:

On April 16, Lt. Dolan, Sgt.Robert Abbruzzese, and Patrolman Jared DeAngelis responded to 165 Winsor Ave. for a call reporting a female screaming on the property. The homeowner allowed the officers into the residence and said there was no disturbance in the home. He also told the officers that his son, Tyler Integlia, was downstairs. The officers met Tyler as he was walking out of his bedroom.  Tyler told the officers that there were no women on the property and there was no disturbance. Tyler and his father stated that there was no one else in the home, according to the police report.

DeAngelis asked Tyler for his identification. Tyler said he would have to get it from his bedroom. The officers followed him to his room where they found two other men. DeAngelis wrote in his report that he immediately saw a bong and two small burnt roach cigarettes, empty alcohol containers, and two prescription bottles missing the labels in plain view. Louis Cascella, one of the men in the room, allegedly said the prescription bottles were his.

“I then asked Louis if there were any other illegal substances in the bedroom, at which time he advised that behind the bed, inside a cereal box of Trix, there was a bag of marijuana.  Cascella allegedly admitted that the marijuana was also his, and that the homeowner did not know the illegal substances were in the room.

Louis G. Cascella, 21, of 2 Greenvalley Drive, Johnston, was arrested on charge of possession of a schedule V drug, suboxone (generic name buprenorphine), possession of a schedule IV drug, clonazepam, and possession of marijuana,  first offense.

Domestic assault:

Johnston Police Sgt. Michael Babbitt, Patrolman Derek Parascandolo, and Patrolman Kevin Brady responded to a call reporting a domestic assault. On April 17 around 10:38 p.m. the officers responded to the parking lot of 2939 Hartford Ave.  When officers arrived the victim stated that she had been renting a room for the past four weeks from Anthony Brunetti. The victim was not in a relationship with Brunetti, according to the police report. The victim told the officers that Brunetti became “obsessively in love with her,” read the report.

The victim and Brunetti allegedly were involved in a verbal altercation at the residence. The victim called her cousin because she wanted to leave the home.  As the victim tried to leave Brunetti  allegedly grabbed her by the arm near the front door in an attempt to pull her back into the residence, according to the report.  The victim broke free and ran toward her cousin’s car. As her cousin drove out of the driveway Brunetti alledgely started throwing rocks at the car and yelling profanities.  The cousin drove to the parking lot on Hartford Avenue and called the police.

The police report states that a small rock was located in the bumper of the cousin’s car and several scratches and paint chips were also documented.  Anthony Brunetti, 45, of 7 Moswansicut Drive, Johnston, was arrested on a charge of domestic simple assault/battery, vandalism/malicious injury to property, and domestic disorderly conduct.
