Police Charge 2 URI Students With Home Invasion

According to Narragansett police, URI students Blake R. Hinds and Alexander Mansi were subdued by the residents of 120 Sakonnet Boulevard.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the Narragansett Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Blake R. Hinds and Alexander Mansi, 19, were arrested at about 11 a.m. Wednesday and charged with felony breaking and entering, felony assault with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy.

According to police, they received a report of a break-in at 120 Sakonnet Boulevard. Police said when they arrived, tenants had subdued Hinds and Mansi, who were armed with a crowbar and brass knuckles.

Police said that based on interviews, Mansi and Hinds were familiar with the home and targeted it specifically. Police identified Mansi and Hinds as University of Rhode Island students living at the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house.  (It was not specified whether they are members of the fraternity or just living at the house.)

According to police, Mansi and Hinds were arraigned on Wednesday before Fourth Division District Court Judge Madeline Quirk and ordered to be held without bail. A bail review is scheduled for Nov. 14.

According to online records, Mansi and Hinds haven’t been arrested in the past. However, Mansi was arrested on Oct. 26 in South Kingstown, and likely has not yet appeared in court for those charges.

According to South Kingstown police logs, Mansi was hanging out of a car window as it drove near Peace Dale Library at about 2:16 a.m. A traffic stop and search led to charges of possession of marijuana, possession of a switchblade and possession of alcohol by a minor.
