Meat Bone Used as Weapon... A Coventry police officer was dispatched to a local sandwich shop recently to investigate a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle. After observing the shattered rear window of the vehicle in question, the officer spoke with the victim, an employee at the sandwich shop, who stated that he had arrived to work at 8:30 a.m. and was notified by his supervisor at 10:15 a.m. that his vehicle had been damaged. Among the shattered glass in the back seat was a large butcher-style bone with meat pieces attached. According to the officer, the bone was about six inches long and four inches wide and was identified as the foreign object that was used to shatter the window.

Too Hot in Here... A Portsmouth woman was arrested this week after she called 911 and police said. The 45-year-old called 911 and reportedly told the dispatcher "she had just done a line of coke and her apartment was hot." Officers responded to the residence, where while speaking to the woman, they reportedly discovered a small bag of cocaine on a bedroom table. The woman was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

Beware of Your Reflection... A 20-year-old Barrington man and his 16-year-old brother have been charged after . The brothers reportedly attempted to sell the iPod for $100 on Craigslist, but a photo attached to the ad actually showed a reflection of the younger brother. That helped give police a strong indication of who they were dealing with. Police set up a sting at the Sowams Fire Station to catch the two. The brother charged with larcency has admitted in a sworn statement that he stole the device, police said. They were arraigned late Friday afternoon at the police station by a justice of the peace.

When Hunger Strikes... A 38-year-old Newport man was arrested this week after he from a Thames Street restaurant. Police were dispatched for a report that a man was checking rear doorways of Thames Street businesses. After witnesses told officers they saw the man walk into Mama Lucias restaurant and leave eating food from inside, police spoke with employees, who confirmed that he had taken two prepared chicken dinners. The man was charged with breaking and entering a dwelling without consent, entering a dwelling with intent to commit a felony and willful trespassing.

Back for More... A Middletown resident reportedly this week, just one day after the man had allegedly broken into the home before. The resident told police that he came home to find the suspect stealing a flatscreen television from his home, sneaking it through a hole in the fence in the rear yard next door to the IHOP restaurant parking lot off West Main Road. The resident accused the 18-year-old suspect of breaking into his home the day before as well. The resident and another man reportedly pursued the suspect on foot themselves before calling police. When police arrived on scene at the IHOP parking lot, they found the two men detaining the suspect on the ground. Police also allegedly recovered a black gym bag with a Blu-Ray video player inside, two flatscreen TVs, two TV remote controls, a black baseball cap and black sock nearby. Middletown Police took the recovered items back to the police station to process as evidence.

Give Me Justice... A Narragansett man was arrested this week after apparently . Police report that they allegedly found the 20-year-old intoxicated with two of his friends in the parking lot of a gas station. Police say they put the 20-year-old into a cruiser to take him home, but that when they arrived, he became agitated when he learned officers had taken his friends to their respective homes. He allegedly began yelling, saying he "wanted justice." After several minutes, the man exited the cruiser, walked to the front and stood in front of the police car so it could not leave. As the officer attempted to reverse and do a three-point turn, he allegedly ran around to the front of the car again to block it. The officer requested back-up from Narragansett Police, who responded and instructed the man that if he did not go into his home he would be arrested. He refused and was subsequently placed under arrest.
