Oh, Craps: Johnston Man Nabbed for Bad Betting at Twin River

Rhode Island State Police officers arrested the man at the Lincoln casino on July 20.

A Johnston man faces felony charges of cheating a casino after Rhode Island State Police say he broke the rules of craps by betting too late.

Michael Brunetti, 44, of 343 Simmonsville Ave., is accused of placing "past post" bets — where a player puts betting chips on the table after the dice have been thrown — at least three times, according to a State Police press release.

Twin River security staffers told officers from the state Gaming Enforcement Unit that a surveillance camera had spotted Brunetti making an illegal bet.

Security officials said that an undercover security detective then went to the table and saw Brunetti make two more bets after the dice had been thrown.

Brunetti collected $45 in winnings from the three bets, the State Police statement said.

Officers presented Brunetti for arraignment at the Lincoln Woods Barracks before Justice of the Peace Lincoln S. Lennon, who released Brunetti on $5,000 personal recognizance and issued a no-contact order. Twin River staffer also issued a permanent ejection notice to Brunetti, who is next due in court on Sept. 25.
