"When [Johnston Fire crews] arrived, there was heavy fire in the garage area — at first, they couldn't find it," McLaughlin explained at the scene. "It traveled up into the top of the garage and it was making its way into the attic space. The guys did a great job stopping it — it stayed within the garage into the attic."

McLaughlin estimated that "it took about 20 to 25 minutes to extinguish the blaze," and added that the cause is still under investigation.
