News Brief: Overnight Fire Forces 3 Out Of Home

Fire Chief Timothy McLaughlin said the blaze at 587 Central Ave. had nearly consumed the house when firefighters arrived.

An adult and two children were under the care of the American Red Cross on Oct. 25, following a midnight fire at 587 Central Ave., the agency stated in an e-mail message.

Chief Timothy McLaughlin, reached by phone at about 5:30 p.m., said that by the time firefighters and rescue personnel arrived at the scene, "the house was fully involved in flames."

Cranston, Providence, and North Providence crews assisted in fighting the fire, which "had about a 30- to 40-minute head start by the time we got the first call," McLaughlin said.
