A Johnston man is claiming he was attacked over the weekend by a sword-wielding assailant because he is bisexual, NBC10 reported today.
David Teague III told the station that the suspect, who was not identified in the online report, "yelled a slur" at him before slashing him with a katana sword.
The television station quoted Maj. Michael Colucci as saying the assault occurred during a disturbance on Angell Street on Saturday night.
Police are investigating whether the assault was a hate crime, Colucci told NBC10.
Teague was not charged in the incident.
