Narragansett Police Say Johnston Teens Hosted Underage Drinking Party

Five girls from Johnston were listed as renters of the beach house in Narragansett.

reported that they shut down an underage drinking party hosted by five Johnston teenagers at a summer rental house near Bonnet Shores.

According to police reports, officers responded to 7 Inkberry Trail at about 10:52 p.m. on July 21 after receiving a report of a loud party.

Police said loud music and voices could be heard from the street, and determined that none of the people present were 21.

Five girls, all from Johnston and aged 17 or 18, were identified as the renters of the house.

One of the girls reportedly told police that her mother had rented the house for the week for her, but did not know that she had guests in the house.

Police listed the alcohol they took from the house:

  • A bottle of Godiva liqueur
  • A 30-pack of Bud Light
  • A bottle of DonQ Cristal Rum
  • A bottle of Cupcake Vodka
  • A bottle of Jack Daniels
  • A bottle of Smirnoff
  • A bottle of Captain Morgan

Police noted that several of the bottles and some of the beer was already open. Officers confiscated the alcohol and disposed of it.

A parent of one of the girls picked them up, and officers informed the parent of the town’s social host laws, which hold homeowners responsible for illegal teenage consumption of alcohol, and includes a fine of $200 for first-time violations.

No charges had been filed by the publication of this article.
