Police Log: Motorcycle vs. Car

One is injured after a car strikes a motorcycle on Hartford Avenue.


One person suffered injuries following a collision between a car and a motorcycle on May 19. Johnston Police Ptlm. Michael Edwards and Sgt. Michael J. Babbitt responded to the accident scene at the intersection of Hartford and Reservoir avenues around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Luis Lopez, 42, of Danielson, CT, told Edwards he stopped his Harley Davidson at the red light at the intersection. When Lopez began to drive forward after the light turned green, the driver of a Subaru Legacy struck his motorcycle from behind, according to reports. Luis Lopez was uninjured but his passenger, Jennifer Lopez, complained of left leg pain and back pain. Jennifer Lopez was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment, according to the police report.
