Former Coventry Teacher Acquitted of Cyberstalking Charge

A former math teacher at Coventry High School that what charged with cyberstalking after school officials said he sent a school resource officer ominous sounding messages via Twitter last March has been found not guilty in Third Division District Court.

Todd Gillheeney, a former teacher, was brought up on charges after school officials said they received threatening tweets that said things like "dead man walking," "judgement day" and "let the countdown begin."

At the time of his arrest, police said there were no direct threats to any school but "in the scope of what's going on around the country, we can't take any chances with this."

Police found a gun and ammunition at Gillheeney's house and seized it along with a computer and assorted electronic devices. 

Court records show Gillheeney was found not guilty on all three counts of misdemeanor cyberstalking on Feb. 6.
