Local Police Assist In Federal Sex Crimes Arrest

Officers from the Johnston Police Department joined federal agents in arresting Robert Chace IV on a federal warrant for possession of child pornography.

assisted agents from the federal Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Marshal Service in locating and arresting Robert L. Chace IV, 24, of East Providence, at a Johnston address.

Police Capt. Marc Boisvert reported that he and two other Johnston officers went to 1137 Hartford Ave. at about 6 p.m. on Nov. 4 to find Chace, who had an active federal warrant for possession of child pornography.

Chace also has two other pending charges: One of failure to register as a convicted sex offender from Providence and one for failing to file an address change with East Providence Police.

When they arrived at the apartment where Chace was known to live, officers asked the renter, identified as Anthony Parrillo, whether Chace was inside. Parrillo reportedly confirmed that Chace was in a bedroom, and agents from the U.S. Marshal Service arrested him there.

Parrillo also confirmed that Chace had brought clothes, toiletries, and other items to the apartment, indicating that he was residing there, Boisvert reported.

A check of Chace's driver's license showed an East Providence address, and Boisvert reported that Johnston Police plan to charge him with another count of failing to register a change of address with local law enforcemment.

(Under Rhode Island General Law 11-37.1.9, convicted sex offenders are required to notify local police departments when they change residence.)

Boisvert stated that Chace was turned over to the federal agents for processing.
