Aug. 7:

On Tuesday, we reported on the arrest of a Johnston man by Rhode Island State Police on an active warrant. The offense? Failure to appear in court on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

Aug. 8:

After an early loss in the East Regional tournament, Johnston bounced back with a win over Howell Township, NJ on Tuesday and faced Dunbar, PA, on Wednesday. The hometown crew would eventually fight before dropping the deciding game, 10-8, against New York on Thursday.

Aug. 9:

No surprise that Laurie Langford's victory in the annual Rhode Island Monthly 'Best of Rhode Island' poll drew a lot of traffic — her store, Wishes Under Wrap, is a well-known source of gifts, favors, and wedding accessories.

Aug. 10:

After getting away with it the first time, two Providence men tried to rob an Atwood Avenue optical shop a second time on Aug. 8 — but Johnston Police officers were nearby and caught up with the men in Providence.
