Updated: Officer suspended without pay, chief says department is conducting internal investigation.

A 24-year-old Johnston Police officer who has been on the job for less than a year was arrested Monday for breaking into a house in Warwick along with a Warren man.

Marissa Ciccone, who was sworn in as a Johnston police officer in December, was charged with breaking and entering, disorderly conduct and simple assault by Warwick Police.

She was arrested at 5 p.m. at a home on Byron Blvd.

Reports state that Ciccone demanded money during a drug transaction.

She was arrested along with a man identified as James Fortin of Warren, who is facing breaking and entering charges.

Johnston Police Chief Richard Tamburini told NBC10 that no disciplinary action has been taken against Ciccone yet.

At her graduation ceremony last year, Ciccone was selected to recite the Police Officers' Code of Ethics.

More details will be posted as they become available.
