Johnston Police Nab Smithfield Domestic Assault Suspect

A local officer stopped the car driven by James Whiting because it had a cracked windshield.

A cracked windshield led to the May 29 arrest of a West Warwick man by Johnston Police on a warrant issued by Smithfield Police.

James Whiting, 66, faces charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct after Johnston Ptlm. Luca Lancellotti saw Whiting's car traveling on Killingly Street at about 11 am.

Lancellotti reported seeing a crack in the car's windshield, and stopped the car on Greenville Avenue.
