Johnston Police Arrest Local Man on Mass. Warrant

Ryan McCauley, 30, had been sought in a sexual assault case in Fall River.

A local man has been turned over to Fall River, MA, police after a Johnston Police officer arrested him on a warrant on Aug. 20.

Ryan J. McCauley, 30, of 47 Morgan Ave., had been sought on a sexual assault charge, and Ptlm. Derek Parascandolo reported that he saw McCauley driving a white van on Morgan Avenue at about 5:45 p.m., shortly after Fall River Police alerted the local department of their warrant for McCauley's arrest.

The warrant had been filed Aug. 9, Parascandolo noted, and the Fall River Police Department notice said that the department would extradite him for the offense.

Parascandolo pulled over McCauley's car and arrested him without incident, according to police reports. Officers charged McCauley as a fugitive from justice, and he was ordered held without bail on Aug. 21.

At an Aug. 23 status conference, McCauley waived an extradition hearing, and he was turned over to Fall River Police. The fugitive from justice charge was dismissed.
